Deadwood at night

Last day in Sturgis

Thursday AM

Yesterdays ride was fun. Went to a small town of about 700 called Hewlitt in WY. Hung out for a while in the huge crowds, did some shopping, and then stopped back at the Stone House for a burger. Motley Crüe rocked last night, although you could tell they hadn't practiced much. Vince had some trouble remembering the words.

Today we hit the rally downtown for the last time and then maybe head to Rapid City Harley to see something different. Ozzy tonite, then we pack and hit the road tomorrow. First stop - Blue Earth MN., home of the Jolly Green Giant (go figure).

Wednesday AM

Just finished breakfast at The Chip, and we'll be riding to Hewlitt WY today, maybe back to Devils Tower, and back to camp to catch Motley Crüe tonite. Saw Bob Dylan and Kid Rock last night. Having a blast, doing some great rides, meeting some interesting people, but the time is flying.

Deadwood SD

Monday am

Just starting out Monday downtown at the rally. Breakfast at One Eyed Jacks, a quick Jack and coke, and a ride to the Needles Highway and Mt Rushmore later. Doesn't get any better than this.

Day Two Wraps Up in Princeton IL

Day two is done with another 490 miles complete. We started a bit late but had a great breakfast and a look around the Harley dealer. Don't worry Hun - no new bike (yet). It was almost 11 by the time we got started and we quickly hit Cleveland, Toledo, Gary, Indiana, and Short Bend. Lots of great, memorable scenery of small-town farming communities. Then we hit Chicago suburbs. We're avoiding Chicago this year but we couldn't avoid the traffic. Once we cleared it though, the rest of the ride was great. No rain, lots of sun (maybe to much), and no problems. We met a bunch of folks also traveling to Sturgis, and plan to hook up with them again when we get there. We will be joined in the morning at the hotel by Steve and Doug, brothers who we rode with last year. With an earlier start and a shorter ride we should get to Nebraska at a much earlier time than today. All is well. More tomorrow.

Love to Ann, Jules, and Cam.

Ready to roll from Youngstown Oh

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

Day 1

So day one is done with almost 500 miles behind us. Everything went smoothly for the four of us, although we were slowed by 20 minutes of torrential rain and then construction traffic in the last hundred miles. We made it to Youngstown, Ohio, had a good meal, and will be back at it tomorrow, going through Cleveland, Gary Indiana and Chicago. Good group of guys to ride with The toughest day is behind us - more to come tomorrow.

1 Week to Go!

7 days. The longest week of the year. And not feeling ready. Still need to get gear completed, and the bike needs another checkout. It will all work out, but not soon enough! Stay tuned for updates throughout the trip.

This year we are riding in support of Jocelyn's Run, a non-profit organization that supports families and children dealing with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Visit their web site listed below, and donate if you can.
